Once upon a time, we were eating supper...and discussing blog names - many ideas were given (crazy ideas, funny ideas, weird and completely un-usable ideas).
As a family, we love to play a wide array of board games - Memory, Monopoly (well, not all of us enjoy that one), Uno (but don't ask the non-Spanish speaking in-laws to pronounce this one), Clue, Trouble, Chess, Parcheesi, and Connect Four to name just a few (trust me when I say we love to play games - there are boxes of games already packed away as we prepare to rent out our home and another box of the ultimate favourites ready to head into the camper).
After throwing names around with a bunch of silliness - Mr. M came up with the creative 4our Connect.
It's just right! There's four...we have a year to spend together travelling...we plan on connecting as a family and we can't wait to share our journey.
We decided we would have our own blog post names to identify who is posting:
1) Arden (aka. Dad) is going post as 'the Zipline'. I'll let him explain in his own blog post.
2) Twylla (aka. Mom) is going to sign off as 'Twy's Twavels' (said in a Tweety voice). This is a dream come true - to present my name with a giggle. I've thought of starting a candy shop called 'Twy's Tweets' (Twy's Treats)...but this is way better (and a sugar reduced option).
3) Mr. M the talented musician of 10 1/2 year is going to write as 'Exotic Chicken'...he's truly a rare bird and full of expressive dialogue. He keeps us hopping with his ideas and never ending energy (biking, skiing, and swimming are a few of his passions)!
4) Miss M our creative artist that just turned 7 years old is going to enter posts called 'Spot It' - where she does art, takes pictures or comes up with something unique that she's spotted during the week. She's got many ideas already planned - honestly, this Child has art on her mind from the instant she wakes up.
The goal of this blog as we travel on a year leave starting in August 2017:
- to each write one blog post a week (we'll try, ok)
- to be real about the good, great, bad and ugly of travel, living and exploring together
- to allow our friends, classmates and family to journey with us and ask questions while we go
- to have a fun memory that we made and that can be printed at the end of the year
