Magnetic Hill and other adventures by Spot(dot)It

"Where's the magnetic hill?" was the question asked by Miss M as we drove into Moncton on Wednesday.  She's been waiting for this adventure with much anticipation!

We found out that evenings are a much less busy time at the hill (as well as $6 less than daytime - free, in other words)...and we found out that Resurgo (the history of moving in New Brunswick) was half price as well from 5-8 on the last day of the month - score...August 31st was a Thursday.

At Resurgo, we learned about boats, trains, planes, plus experimented driving submarines, DIY hoverboards (we're going to make one when we get back home) and walkers with ipads that played vidoes when driven over certain parts of the map (see photo below).  Interactive displays kept us all engaged while learning how magnetic trains work, how wind tunnels helped inventors learn about flight, how to put gears in a row to make a bicycle work, and how the city of Moncton has been influenced by the changes in transportation throughout the decades.

After exploring Resurgo til closing time, we headed for the Magnetic Hill before sunset.  We all enjoyed going backwards 'up' the hill in the truck and then again frontwards.  Lots of ideas were expressed about how much fun it would be to live here if the school bus had to use the magnetic hill every day to get to school or how much fun it would be to experience the ride with scooters.  Thumbs up!

After a nights rest, we decided to try biking as a family adventure.  We went to Centennial Park as we had driven by one of it's parking lots on our way to Resurgo and it wasn't far from our campground.  Upon entering...we were surprised to find a great bump track (win) and paths meandering through trees, streams and over bridges.

I had a fun time doing the bump track and wooden bridge with my Dad's help - even my Mom did the bump track (a first time adventure for her)!

  1. Thanks Spot (dot) it!! Love the big magnet sign at Magnetic Hill! And the two kids standing by it.Grandpa & I both said that sign was not there when either of us visited.
The walker at Resurgo & the bump bike path both sound like fun..Not sure the bump path would be fun for me. I might need a dad to help me too.
