Humans in space!

The great space race:

1.The first space rockets were modified German war rockets from WWII.

2.Russia sends Sputnik and the little dog Laika into orbit.

3. U.S.A launches a chimpanzee in to orbit.

4.Russian man orbits in space for eight days.

5.U.S.A astronaut orbits in space for 14 days.

6.Russia lands first unmanned rocket on the moon.

7.U.S.A’s Neil Armstrong takes first step on to the moon.

8. Co-operation: Russian and American rockets dock together in orbit.

Developments since then include the International Space Station,
the Hubble telescope, and Mars rovers.

Recently a Russian astronaut spent 487 days at the
International Space Station.

Fun fact!! It was 65 years from the wright brothers' first flight until a man
walked on the moon.
