Mother's day weekend...by Twy's Twavels

These two are a big part of my Mother's day adventure.

One of them asked me if you start having Mother's day
after you're married or after you have a Child.
Love those real questions that are just trying to figure out how things go...

(I could add a whole page of questions that we've tried to answer to the best of our ability as we've traveled this year and seen others lives, heard new words or ideas, and visited people-groups that are quite different from home.
"Mom, where do you think I should bring my wife for our honeymoon?")

Had fun at a musical playground...now I want to build one of these in our town!

Some flowers appeared on our "kitchen table"
(aka. the picnic table) this weekend.  Thoughtful!

Our ride...
We started the weekend adventure with a road-trip...
the idea was to go to Canyonlands National Park on Saturday
and then to Dead-Horse State Park on Sunday.
I giggled..."I'm taking my Mom to Dead-Horse for Mother's day...".

When we got the map at Canyonlands
(we have a National Park pass - so we didn't have to pay again to enter this one), we saw that we could take Schafer Trail and go to Goose overlook
and see the Colorado River at a very similar spot to Dead-Horse
(which we would have to pay to get into).
We said, "Why not?  Let's take a drive!  That saves us $15 and a day!"

See that view...and that road below?
The incredible adventure begins...as we drive along the rim of this canyon.

Here's the view from the beginning of the drive...
somewhat narrow gravel road with amazing views!

See that road...yep...that one WAAAYYY below us.
That's where we were headed.
No place to turn around...I guess the only way is down now!

Down...down...

Down a bit more...

At the bottom...with our trusty Honda truck!
It passed the test...oh wait - it's at the bottom of the canyon.
Have to get up yet that crazy road yet!

The views were incredible.  Had the whole place to ourselves...
millions of photos were taken (I'll spare you several of them).

Beautiful flowering cacti in the desert...

A few photos with my Kiddos...sharing them all - love their expressions!

Interesting how trees don't disintegrate due to the low humidity...

Back up at the top...Yes!
Thankful for the Man who drove us up and down on that incredible trail
(cause my hands were sweaty as a passenger!).

It was such a great ride...
we thought maybe we could also call it a Father's day adventure
because it was definitely a hit for the Driver in our house.
He couldn't believe he drove that road...after it was done
(there was a bit of a panic look on his face when we started the switchbacks)!

You can google other people's responses to driving this road
- it is listed as one of the top most dangerous roads in the USA.

Yep...you read that right.  It was intense!

My Kiddos being themselves...love it!

The world's best adventure - climbing a hill with your sibling!

And one more hill...
climbed and jumped down this humongous sand hill as a family.
Then it was into the pool for us!
