This Girl loves all things green, growing and creative - thus, we found a few fun activities to celebrate her 8th year.
She had to figure out the clues - starting with a word scramble on June 14th to figure out where we were going the next day...
First surprise - was a trip to Buchart gardens on June 15th. There was a special event on this day to celebrate gardening across Canada where 12 garden gnomes were hiding throughout the gardens...great fun!
This is serious searching business...
Found one!
And another - this one is near the totem pole...
Some were in very tricky spots...
In the Japanese garden...
Japanese blue poppies around this gnome...
Hiding in the fushia plants...
In the big garden...waaaay over there...
On June 16th, her brother made a treasure hunt so that she could find the lighthouse to paint...it's all part of the process...
(June 17th was Father's day...we took the ferry from Vancouver Island to Vancouver city - which isn't on Vancouver island...isn't that silly? We got to visit with Arden's uncle, aunt and cousins near Vancouver.)
Actual birthday day on June 18th...camping in Vancouver...
Opening the gifts...
Fairy garden supplies...the biggest things that made her smile - a hot glue gun! She can't wait to use it for all her crafting/art ideas...
The cake...but mostly the scene was important to her.
She loved it...which was the whole point (making a cake without an oven isn't an easy task - let's just say it was a lava cake and call it good. I think I may have said it was more of an anvil cake. Light and fluffy, it was not!).
And a few photos of the inspiration behind the whole PEI theme...
(the remaining photos were taken last summer in beautiful PEI).
