“Turtle-ish and Parrot fish” by Spot (dot)it and Exotic Chicken

Turtle-ish and Parrot fish”

Spot (dot)it and Exotic Chicken went snorkeling in two very different places in
Akumal, Mexico.
They saw two giant sea creatures. One was in the lagoon.
The other was in the ocean.

Exotic Chicken - Akumal, Mexico, is known for its giant sea turtles.
There are six types of sea turtles. Two are common in Akumal Bay-
the Loggerhead Sea turtle and the Green Sea turtle.
Loggerhead sea turtles are smaller than Green sea turtles.
Loggerheads are about 90 cm long. However, Green sea turtles can be up to 150 cm.
We saw them both today while we were snorkeling in Akumal today.
We watched the turtles for about an hour.
The turtles were usually at the bottom of the shallow bay eating
their healthy diet of seagrass.
Occasionally, the turtles would surface to breathe air.
The turtles swam gracefully with their flippers.
The turtles also use their fins to scuff up the sea bed when eating the sea grass.
It was a great experience to be so close to an endangered species.
I liked it's wrinkly skin, the pattern on its shell, and the graceful way that it swam.

Spot(dot) it - The Ya Kul Lagoon at Akumal is a cenote
where fresh water runs into the salty water.
We spotted a huge colorful parrotfish in the morning,
We came back again and chased it all around the lagoon
for about one hour in the afternoon.
You had to swim hard and fast to keep up.
The fish was probably 1m long. It was probably 50 or 60 pounds.
Chasing the parrotfish was fun.
